The Maguires
The Maguire Band is a family trad band from Wicklow Town which has been taking the traditional music world by storm over the past year, with the highlight being a live performance on The Ray D'Arcy Show in May 2016. Their performances always feature a bodhrán solo from Seán, who is only 11 years old and has had an internet viral hit with a video of one of his solos, which has been viewed online an estimated half a million times across various sites. The band has performed in 15 different counties in Ireland, covering all four provinces, and is a regular performer at Ireland's trad festivals which included the Leinster Fleadh, Ulster Fleadh, Kilkenny Tradfest, and Tuam Trad Festival in the past year. They recently got their first international booking for a weekend in Amsterdam in January 2016. The band's repertoire includes traditional favourites and modern tunes with syncopated, infectious rhythms, all delivered with a blend of youthful energy and musical maturity. Over the past two years, the band has been writing their own tunes, many of which feature in their performances. They are currently working on their debut album which they will start recording in Sonas Studios in Killarney in August 2016, with an anticipated release date late in 2016.
